AMSTERDAM
Amsterdam  is the capital and most populous city of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Amsterdam has an approximate population of 2,431,000.

PLACES TO VISIT

  • Anne Frank House:  Reflect on the atrocities committed against the Jewish people during World War II. Is the real house in which Anne Frank and her family  hid from the Nazis for two years. The front of the house is now a museum but the back annex has been preserved to give an idea of what life was like for Anne and the families she hid with. 
  • Amsterdam’s Parklife: over 30 parks to choose from,  to do a picnic and escape from the urban lifestyle . Parks are at the heart of Amsterdam culture. The Vondelpark is the largest park of Amsterdam and houses an outdoor theatre with live concerts in summer, three bars and restaurants and other attractions.
  • Take a canal cruise:  Floating along the canals by guided boat tour is a great way to discover the city. There are many different canal cruises to choose.


MUSEUMS

  • Museumplein: Home to the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Stedelijk Museum of Modern Art. The Museumplein is the cultural beating heart of Amsterdam. With open-air exhibitions, markets and a large paddling pool to dip your toes into on warmer days. 
  • Rijksmuseum:  Amsterdam’s biggest museum of art and history. Houses thousands of masterpieces (more than 8.000) including Rembrandt’s greatest work – The Night Watch


WHAT TO EAT

  • Bitterballen:   Delicious, deep fried crispy meatballs traditionally served with mustard for dipping – they can be found on the menu at most Amsterdam establishments
  • Stroopwafel:  Two thin waffles stuck together with a layer of sweet syrup; these delectable delicacies are best enjoyed hot and gooey from a street market or bakery.
