I want to travel to Madrid. It is the capital of Spain and one of my favorite
cities.
Madrid has a population of 3.2 million people.
There are several places to visit in Madrid for example:
- There is a wonderful palace located next to Plaza de Oriente called the Royal Palace. It is Madrid's largest
building and also the most beautiful. Additionally Madrid's
Royal Palace is the largest royal palace in Western Europe
- Another
interesting place to visit is Gran Via street one
of the most famous streets in Madrid. Along the street there are hundreds of businesses - shops, stores, hotels, banks,
restaurants, bars, cinemas and theatres.
- In the center of madrid there is another remarkable
place: Madrid’s Cathedral. This building was started in 1883 and
finished in 1993. Madrid’s Cathedral mixes three different styles:
neoclassical, gothic and neo-romanesque.
In Madrid there are also different museums. Two
of the most important museums are:
- The Prado Museum: The Prado Museum is one of the world's greatest art galleries. There are works by the great European masters such as Velázquez, Goya,
Raphael, Rubens, and Bosch.
- Reina Sofia Museum: Madrid's 18th century hospital
was remodelled and converted into the Reina Sofia museum in 1992. It is a treasure-house of contemporary
and modern. There are a lot of paintings for example The Guernika by
Picasso.
And
what you can eat in Madrid? There are hundred
options. Two delicious options are:
- Bocadillo
de Calamares or fried squid sandwich: is the most famous sandwich in
Madrid. In Plaza Mayor there are a lot of restaurants serving this sandwich. The bocadillo de calamares consists
of crusty fresh bread loaded with fried, flour-coated rings of
squid.
- Huevos rotos: huevos rotos, which literally means “broken eggs.” is popular dish that consist of
a plate of fried potato strips topped with an over-easy egg.. Yummy yummy
